About The Role

The role

Join Gateley in our Manchester office as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor and dive into the world of Quantity Surveying. You'll work alongside Senior Surveyors who  in the successful delivery of construction projects to our clients. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects while learning from experienced professionals in the field. This is an ideal role for a driven individual who has an eye for detail and is eager to learn and grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Our Apprenticeship Programme allows you to fast track your career. You’ll get the opportunity to combine hands-on experience with academic study, learning whilst you and earn simultaneously. As an apprentice, you’ll benefit from on-the-job training, mentorship and a structured development plan. We'll cover the costs and give you the support you need to achieve your professional qualifications.

On this apprenticeship you will complete the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (Chartered Surveying Degree Apprenticeship) with Salford University.

As an Apprentice you will support with:

  • Assisting the surveying team with all pre-contract and post contract surveying services on a range of construction projects including insurance schemes.
  • Assisting with the measurement and valuation of work completed on site.
  • Collaborating with the team to monitor project costs and variations.
  • Conducting regular site visits with a Senior Surveyor to ensure accurate measurement and assessment of work.
  • Utilising industry-standard software for quantity surveying and project management
  • Following the company Quality Management System in the delivery of all services
  • Assisting on multiple projects simultaneously and developing excellent time management strategies.
  • Treating all clients to exceptional level of service

The person

What you’ll need:  

    • Have gained a minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications, grade 4-9 Including Maths and English and 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications.
    • A full UK driving license and access to a car is essential for this role. Regular travel to various client sites, often in remote locations will be required.
    • Be a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years prior to starting the course and have the right to work in the UK.
    • You are at least 18 (Level 6) years old and have left full time education when the apprenticeship starts
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to liaise with clients and work as part of a wider national team.
    • Excellent written communication and attention to detail to produce technical documents.
    • Shows proficiency in measurements and is comfortable with Maths
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
    • Experience of working to deadlines
